Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a "Credit" and how is it used?

Think of Credits as the currency for translating your documents. The number of credits needed depends on both the document's characteristics (page count equivalent and file size) and the tier it falls into.

Page Count:Pages are counted based on the file type (see FAQ #6).

File Tiers:

  • Standard: Under 30MB and under 30 pages. Minimum cost: 60 Credits.
  • Large: Under 100MB and under 100 pages. Minimum cost: 100 Credits.
  • Mega: Under 300MB and under 300 pages. Minimum cost: 300 Credits.

Credit Calculation:

Within Tier Limits:

  • Example 1: A 15-page file that is 10MB fits the Standard tier. Cost = max(15 pages, 60 credit minimum) = 60 Credits.
  • Example 2: A 75-page file that is 50MB fits the Large tier. Cost = max(75 pages, 100 credit minimum) = 100 Credits.
  • Example 3: A 200-page file that is 150MB fits the Mega tier. Cost = max(200 pages, 300 credit minimum) = 300 Credits.

Exceeding Tier Page Limits (within 300MB):

  • Example 4: A 450-page file that is 200MB. Cost = 300 + (450 - 300) = 300 + 150 = 450 Credits.

Exceeding Tier Size/Page Limits (General): If a file exceeds the page or size limit of a lower tier, it automatically falls into the next higher tier it qualifies for. For example, a 40-page file under 30MB exceeds the Standard tier's page limit and would be processed under the Large tier rules (minimum 100 credits).

Maximum File Size: We currently do not support files larger than 300MB. Please see FAQ #2 for advice.

2. Why do the file size and page count affect the translation cost in Credits?

Processing documents involves more than just translating text. Analyzing file structure, preserving complex layouts (especially in PDFs and PPTX), and handling embedded elements like images require significant computing resources.

Larger files or files with many pages generally demand more resources. The tier system (Standard, Large, Mega) with associated minimum credits ensures we can cover these processing costs and deliver high-quality, layout-preserved translations. The tiers are defined as:

  • Standard: <30MB & <30 Pages (Min 60 Credits)
  • Large: <100MB & <100 Pages (Min 100 Credits)
  • Mega: <300MB & <300 Pages (Min 300 Credits)

Important Note on File Size: Files larger than 300MB are not currently supported. If your file exceeds this limit, please try splitting it into smaller documents. Often, high-resolution images or embedded videos significantly increase file size; consider removing these elements or reducing their quality if size is an issue.

3. How does the One-Time Purchase work?

It's simple! Upload the document you want to translate. Our system will instantly analyze its page count equivalent (see FAQ #6) and file size to determine its tier (Standard, Large, or Mega) and calculate the required credits based on the rules outlined in FAQ #1. We will show you the final price in your currency before you commit. This option is perfect for users who only need occasional translations and don't want a subscription.

4. How do the Subscription plans (Essential, Professional, Premium) work?

Subscriptions provide a monthly allocation of Credits (180 for Essential, 1,000 for Professional, 3,000 for Premium) at a significantly lower cost per credit compared to One-Time Purchases.

Each plan is designed to handle different file tiers:

  • Essential: Best for files fitting the Standard tier (<30MB & <30 Pages).
  • Professional: Handles files fitting the Standard or Large tiers (<100MB & <100 Pages).
  • Premium: Handles files fitting the Standard, Large, or Mega tiers (<300MB & <300 Pages), including files under 300MB that exceed 300 pages (using the special calculation from FAQ #1).

Your credit allowance renews automatically each month (or year, if you choose an annual plan).

Important: Unused credits expire at the end of your current billing period (month or year) and do not roll over.

5. How do I choose the right Subscription plan?

Consider two main factors:

  • Your typical file characteristics: Do you mostly translate small documents (likely fitting the Standard tier: <30MB & <30 Pages)? Or larger, more complex files (potentially fitting Large: <100MB & <100 Pages, or Mega: <300MB & <300 Pages)? Choose a plan that covers the file tiers you typically work with (Essential for Standard, Professional up to Large, Premium up to Mega).
  • Your monthly translation volume: Estimate how many page equivalents you translate per month. Choose a plan with sufficient credits (Essential: 180, Professional: 1,000, Premium: 3,000) to meet your needs.

If unsure, you can start with a lower tier and upgrade if you need more credits or need to handle files that fall into higher tiers.

6. How are pages counted for different file types?

Page counting varies by file type:

  • PDF, PPTX: We count the standard number of visible pages in the document viewer.
  • DOCX, XLSX, CSV, EPUB: The page count is estimated based on the amount of text. We consider approximately 2,000 characters (including spaces) to be equivalent to one page. For XLSX, this calculation applies to the data within the sheets selected for translation.

7. What if a file is too large or has too many pages for my plan?

If a file falls into a tier whose limits (size or page count) exceed what your current plan supports (e.g., attempting to translate a Large tier file [>30MB or >30 pages] using an Essential plan), you won't be able to use your subscription credits for that specific file.

You will have these options:

  • Upgrade your subscription to a tier that supports the file's characteristics.
  • Proceed with a One-Time Purchase for that specific file.

Remember, files exceeding 300MB cannot be processed and must be split or reduced in size.

8. What if I run out of credits during the month?

If you exhaust your monthly credit allowance before your billing cycle renews, you have three options:

  • Wait for your credits to automatically refresh at the start of your next billing cycle.
  • Purchase another subscription plan if you anticipate needing more credits regularly.
  • Use the One-Time Purchase option to translate any additional documents immediately.

9. Can I change my Subscription plan?

Yes! You can easily upgrade or downgrade your plan through your account settings. Upgrades usually take effect immediately (you might be charged a pro-rated amount for the current cycle). Downgrades typically take effect at the beginning of your next billing cycle.

10. Is there a discount for paying yearly?

Absolutely! Choosing an annual subscription plan offers our best value, saving you 50% compared to paying month-to-month for the same tier. You can select the annual payment option during the checkout process.

* Page count estimates are based on standard document pages. Actual translation capacity may vary depending on document complexity and formatting.
